Curious by nature. Precise by practice.

Practitioner of Applied Movement Neurology and Sports Therapy.

For more than 20 years, Amy has worked across movement, strength, rehabilitation and hands-on care. The Linford Method brings that experience together through one simple principle: assess what is happening, apply the most useful input and retest the result.

What Amy believes

How you look is not the same as how well you function.

Health and fitness has become crowded with influencers, appearance-led advice and impressive claims. But a six-pack cannot tell us how well someone balances, coordinates movement, responds reflexively or recovers from physical stress.

Amy believes science, measurement and proof should be pillars of safe progression, not marketing gimmicks. That is why assessment and retesting sit at the centre of every Linford Method appointment.

The personal story

When the person needing a better answer was me.

I was placed on a waiting list for a knee replacement. Stairs hurt, standing was impossible, walking was out of the question. Movement became difficult and my confidence in what my body could do began to change.

My own rehabilitation and study of Applied Movement Neurology showed me that the structure of the knee was only part of the picture. By assessing how my nervous system was responding, using targeted sensory and movement inputs, retesting and progressively rebuilding strength, I learned what would help me move forward in a safe way and get me back to what I love doing.

Today, I can walk up and down stairs, run, squat, perform without that pain. I have rebuilt my fitness, become stronger in my forties and feel better than I did a decade ago. Training for another Ultra marathon feels hopeful rather than hellish.

That experience did not give me a miracle formula, and I don't sell one. It takes hard work and commitment.  It also gave me a deeper respect for assessment, individual response and the importance of showing what is changing rather than asking to trust a best guess.

Why The Linford Method exists

People should not have to wait months for generic help.

Amy developed The Linford Method because too many people wait months for support, only to receive an approach that does not fully reflect the person standing in front of the practitioner.

She wanted a more accurate and repeatable decision-making process, one that could begin helping from the first appointment, measure the response and keep refining the plan rather than relying on assumption.

The result is not one rigid treatment protocol. It is a clear way of working: assess, respond, retest and progress.

Amy’s standard of care

Evidence should guide the session.

Amy combines experience with curiosity. She listens carefully, tests what is relevant and is prepared to change direction when the result says something different.

01

Treat the person

Not just the diagnosis, body part, sport or appointment label.

02

Measure the response

Revisit strength, balance, proprioception, reflexive response or the measures used earlier.

03

Teach, don’t mystify

Explain what is being assessed, why an input is chosen and how the client can continue progressing.

What working with Amy should feel like

Professional care without losing the human part.

Amy wants every client to understand what is happening, what the plan is and how they can take a more active role in their health.

Safe

Your history, current presentation and readiness to progress are taken seriously.

Heard
